WASHINGTON - Despite calls from within his own party for him to step aside, President Joe Biden says he has no intention of backing down from his bid for a second term.

Only 23 Democratic members of Congress and no congressional leaders have publicly called for Mr. Biden to withdraw. However, Democratic Party rules outline what would happen if Biden steps aside before he's formally nominated or if there's a vacancy on the ticket after.

If Biden ends his campaign before voting begins, the pledged delegates could cast their ballots for a new candidate.
